Wynkoop Alley
Branding , ILLUSTRATION & Pattern design
In summer 2019 I partnered with Two Parts to brand Wynkoop Alley, a pop-up food truck garden outside concert venue Mission Ballroom. I created a brand guide, a series of food-centric patterns, a responsive website, and the assets for all print collateral. This included the menus, signage, and a collection of the craziest and most wonderful umbrellas I’ve ever seen.
Brand Elements
Color
The colors for Wynkoop Alley are a selection of fun, bold colors reminiscent ice cream, watermelon, and all things summer. Red is used mostly for emphasis. Whenever possible, dynamic duos are encouraged. Take, for example, a business card. Create a two-color design, and then provide multiple versions of that business card with different two-color combos. More dynamic duos can be created, but none should include black.

Type in Use
Logos & Seals
The main logo is in the Futura font, made to be simple in order to peacefully coexist with the loud colors and patterns. There are two varieties of secondary seals: the Fruit Sticker style and Name Tag style. When placing a logo on top of a pattern, use the secondary seals to make the logo stand out from the pattern. Fruit Stickers should have rounded corners if they are rectangular or square.
Patterns & Illustration
The selection of custom patterns are the focal point of the design for Wynkoop Alley. The patterns are designed to feature a mixture of food, botanicals, fictional creatures and objects found around RiNo. Bold and strange, they are visual adventures meant to highlight the ingenuity and creativity of the chefs who will grace the space with their food trucks. In a sentence, the patterns say, “you will never know exactly what to expect in this space, but it will always be an adventure”. Patterns may be taken apart and elements may be used as spot illustrations.
